Giving Thanks in Small Business Recruiting

Giving Thanks in Small Business Recruiting

When it comes to small business recruiting, gratitude is difficult to come by. November is traditionally a time of giving thanks and reflecting on the things for which you are most grateful. If you struggle to hire the right people to help you be more productive, efficient, and profitable, grateful may be something you rarely feel.

On Thanksgiving, you spend hours, or sometimes days, preparing a bountiful feast only to watch your guests devour everything in 15 minutes or less. Often, recruiting the wrong employees can feel much the same when you watch everything you’ve put your blood, sweat, and tears into creating is plundered by that one (or more, yikes!) employee you should never have hired in the first place.

I know how you feel because I, too, have experienced the problems caused by hiring the wrong people. It simply breaks my heart when I see businesses struggling when the only thing standing in the way of their success is getting the right people on their team. That’s why I wrote my book, The YOLO Principle: The Ultimate Hiring Guide for Small Business. I poured my countless years of experience into this book, this baby of mine, and people are devouring it in minutes, well maybe not minutes, but definitely the hour or so that it takes to read.

This year, I am grateful for those who have spent their valuable time with me learning how to end the cycle of hiring the wrong people and start their journey toward successful hiring. My hope is that if you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, you will soon.  Then you can start feeling grateful for the wonderful people who support your business instead of draining the life out of it.

But, I understand if you are feeling hesitant because you’ve tried other so-called “experts’” advice and read other business books but are still struggling. I totally understand because I was there once too. I was frustrated by the lack of real-world experience of these experts who were not out there in the trenches every day doing the work. It was easy for them to print theories and hypothetical situations.

That’s why The YOLO Principle is different. It’s filled with practical step-by-step instructions that will change your life. After reading it and implementing the principles, I guarantee you will have less stress, more time, and greater profits!

The book is written in a way that makes it easy and fun to learn how to change the way you hire. Who doesn’t want to avoid hiring Lazy Larry, Gossip Gayle, or Diva Debbie? I’ll be right by your side as I dive deep into best practices, real-life examples, and instructions on how to implement The YOLO Principle in your business. So, it’s time to buckle down and get some work done.

So, what is The YOLO Principle?

It’s a set of four core principles that are the foundation for hiring the right employees—Clarity, Culture, Consistency, and Communication. These principles cut to the chase and are written specifically for savvy business people who don’t want a lot of fluff to wade through, but who do want detailed, to-the-point steps they can follow to improve their businesses and their lives.

What topics does the book cover specifically?

  • How to know if you are ready to hire your first, or your next, employee
  • How to create a job description that clearly defines the job
  • How to define your ideal employee
  • How to write a compelling job ad that will stand out in a crowd of boring ads
  • How to design a recruiting strategy that will attract your ideal employee
  • How to ask Insightful Interview™ questions that reveal the truth about your candidates
  • How to keep the keys to your kingdom away from that freak who will steal from you, turn away your customers, or worse
  • Plus, a jam-packed Appendix filled with examples you can use as your go-to resource!

So, grab a copy today. Read through the book one time, and then go back to those areas where you had ah-ha moments and start implementing the tips and using the tools provided. Join the TYP (The YOLO Principle) Community and continue your learning experience there. You can also share your experiences with other small businesses and get support and ideas from others who are on the same journey that you are on. You will get ongoing support while you make your business more efficient, productive, and profitable.
